SEAWALL EROSION CONTROL DRAINAGE SYSTEM
| |
TMP MARINE PRODUCTS offers you the BLUE MARLIN FILTER system which is a solution to your seawall erosion control drainage problem. The BLUE MARLIN FILTER system is a seawall erosion control product, for new and retrofit applications in seawalls, retaining walls and bulkheads.

Put an end to your drainage problems with BLUE MARLIN FILTERS
Problems occur when the weep holes in seawalls, retaining walls and bulkhead panels either get clogged, and don't allow the ground water to escape, or the weep holes are free from the filter fabric and this allows the soil and landfill to escape through them and into the water. Generally the procedure to repair this problem is to bring in heavy equipment and remove the backfill behind the wall and replace the filter fabric and then back-fill again. This gets to be very costly.
The weep holes are there to relieve hydrostatic pressure put upon the seawall, retaining wall and bulkhead by the ground water developing on the landward side of the wall. The hydrodynamic pressure of perched water and seepage water causes loss of landfill without the proper erosion control system. Weep holes should keep erosion from occurring to maintain the dignity of the owner's property. Therefore, the functions are to keep the soil and land in and allow the water, from the landward side, out.

| There are 3 different BLUE MARLIN FILTERS. They are made up of ABS UV protected cylinders, with a 2" diameter. |
| First, is the 3" design - made purely for corrugated sheet piling. |
| The Blue Marlin Filter is a two component system consisting of an ABS plastic cylinder permanently installed in seawalls and a replaceable filter element tube which can be inserted, locked in and removed for replacement by the filter assembly tool.
Second, is the 9" design (Blue in Color) for concrete seawall panels and
| Third, is the 15" design (White in Color) to be installed on much wider seawalls and/or bulkheads. The 9" and 15" filters display a scale on the side, to install at the backside of the seawall / bulkhead. Installed between 2 and 4 feet centers, slightly above the mean high water line and properly maintained, your seawall will last a life time without repairs.

These BLUE MARLIN FILTER cylinders slide into the existing seawall / bulkhead weep holes. The BLUE MARLIN FILTER cylinders contain a sliding receptacle filter cartridge (with a marafi filter weave #SRW300) which is inserted through the seawall, with the filter fabric flush with the landward side of the seawall. A special is used to insert the filter cartridge and to retrieve the filter cartridge for replacement purposes. Now the filter can be changed periodically, without a need to excavate behind the wall, thus saving a lot of money.
BLUE MARLIN FILTERS can also be installed at the time on new construction. The location of the BLUE MARLIN FILTER SYSTEM may be chosen by the designer of the wall to best serve the purpose of reliving the hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressures on the wall. This relief is important in that the design of most wall systems do not anticipate that the wall will be subjected to pressures from perched or trapped water behind the wall, in the backfill material.

A Sheet Piling Wick Drainage System
The JET FILTER SYSTEM is the newest addition to the BLUE MARLIN line of filter systems. This new JET FILTER wick filter system was designed with our customers concerns of depth and protrusion in mind. The JET FILTER can be used for both new and retrofit applications in seawalls, bulkheads, retaining walls and other erosion control structures.
| |
Like our other BLUE MARLIN Filters, the JET FILTER relieves hydrostatic pressures on any wall design. This relief is important because the design of most wall systems does not anticipate that the wall will be subject to pressures from perched or trapped water behind the wall, in the backfill material. This hydrostatic pressure is created by both rain water and tidal surges that get trapped behind erosion control structures such as Seawalls, Bulkheads, Retaining Walls and Sheet Piling.

| The JET FILTER installation is quick and easy.
1. Drill a 2-1/2 inch core hole about 4 inches deep, where directed on the sheet piling.
2. Insert the JET FILTER assembly into the drilled hole in the wall.
3. Using the 4 stainless steel, self-drilling tap-cons (included), attach the Flush Mount Plate
4. Insert the Filter Element until it snaps into place.
The Filter Fabric used in this system is Mirafi Filterweave 300 which resists clogging while maintaining flow in dynamic conditions.
5. Done
NOTE: Filters should be installed approximately 4 to 6 feet apart, slightly above the mean high water line
The JET FILTER is a Flush Mount system manufactured of ABS plastic, which can be permanently installed in seawalls and bulkheads. All of the materials used in the construction of the JET FILTER are UV Protected, for added life and durability.
The JET FILTER features an easy and fast removable clip design, that allows the inside filter to be changed easily and quickly, when needed.

| The pictures below show the new JET FILTER installed in the seawalls. It makes a nice, smooth, clean looking surface, without any protrusions. As noted above, the JET FILTERS are spaced approximately 6 to 8 feet apart and above the high tide marker.
